Polly - Easiest way is to look at the tail fin where it joins the body the Spit has a nice curve compared to the Hurricane. Although there is a difference between the Merlin and Griffon Spitfires to consider :smiling:

Fantastic shot of one of my top 3 WW2 planes.

 

Love the Hawker Hurricane I know this is sacrilegious but I prefer it to the Mustang and Spitfire as far as WW2 planes it is just behind the Vought F4U Corsair and believe it or not the Gruman F4F Wildcat love that little plan.

Thanks James, The Hurricane has always been my most favoured aircraft. Accounted for more enemy  aircraft during the Battle Of Britain than its rival the Spitfire.

Local history too as Hurricanes of 56 Squadron were based at the airfield I work from during 1940-41
