  1. I don't know about anyone else, but I always get that warm fuzzy feeling when anything wild comes fairly close and unafraid. With the exception of snakes!

    MIND YOUR STEP

I bet those cameras are on Ebay now!
  3. Aren't they the most endearing creatures. Meercat Manor was very popular here; I hope you had it in the UK. We watched it whenever we could. Lovely photos. It's nice to see animals unafraid of us.
  4. Hi Annie I think I'll probably go for the Canon 70d, as I can't imagine life without a fully articulated screen. Incidentally we went to the dogs (so to speak) last night, Greyhound racing last night and got chatting with the course photographer. She had a Canon 7d and was getting fantastic photos. There was I, banging away with my little Nikon p520 with its super zoom, getting horribly grainy results, while hers were lovely and sharp. I suppose it's the old saying, "you gets what you pays for". But we had a good time anyway; lost a few bob, had a few beers, great. I found the hardest bit was getting a picture of a dog at all, any dog. I got plenty of the hare. By the time you got it lined up it was gone. This is the best I could do. I think I was too far back too.
  5. After some really helpful input from our TIPF friends, and some really serious agonizing, I have decided on which new camera body I'll buy. Now I might need a hand with what to hang on the front of it. I rather fancy a fairly narrow band zoom, with macro as I enjoy bug shooting etc. What do you think of say a 15-85 zoom, to start with, bearing in mind I have no lenses at all for the new body. I think 15-85 would be a good start as it will be my only lens to start with. What do you think????? Also, would you go with the camera brand lens or say, Sigma, Tamron etc. Also, are the top dollar brand lenses so much better than the above mentioned. I think that's enough for now. I think you will agree that we are all brand loyal to some degree, and the last thing I want is to start a bun fight. but I would really appreciate your input.
  6. That was quick. I received bugger all in the post today. I don't know how it found me so quickly as we're away on holiday. Thanks Chris, it's all I could have hoped for!
  7. No fighting children!!!! I only said I didn't want my prize, because I didn't think I'd win. Can I have it now, as I never win anything?
  8. I am wondering if the bottom one is the original and you have photoshopped in a bit more water and reflections. The colour also seems to be more intense in the top one. Save my Bugger all, I've got plenty.
  9. I was half hoping someone would say that! Thanks to everyone for their input.
  10. gimme love, gimme love, gimme love, gimme gimme gimme that thing, gimme that, gimme gimme that, gimme that thing, gimme that thing, gimme gimme gimme that thing! (I hope you remember that one otherwise I'll feel a right goose) Love
  11. 699 quid is a bit beyond my means. At present I have a Nikon P520 with a feature I wouldn't want to be without, and that's the fully articulated screen. This may seem a bit irrelevant but it's a great idea and would loath to loose it. Does anyone have any comments on this aspect. One way or the other.
  12. I have been agonising for a while now over what to upgrade to. I have sort of come to the conclusion that the Nikon D7100 or the Canon 70D would fit the bill. Both are in the price range I am looking at and as far as I can tell both are very nice pieces of kit. But there is nothing like hands on experience. Does anyone out there in TIPF land have any harsh words, or otherwise to say about either camera. As I don't have any lenses, would you go for a kit or body only and buy second hand lenses as they become available. Does anyone know of any second hand stuff that could influence my decision. Do you think a different brand in the same price range is better. I am keen to hear what you have to say.
  13. Congrats Leon. Great image.
