  1. Agree the Canadian museum and the one in caen (the really big one) got me going. I took my son who's 27 with me. I was about to have my op and i was on crutches so distance was limited. Might have to go back again. Omaha the day we went, there is miles of beach and there wasn't a soul on it, seemed eerie. Juno beach, i looked at those small gaps they had to run through almost certain to die or be seriously maimed and it makes you shiver. The precision dropping of the gliders at Pegasus as well marvelled me. If you haven't been Bletchley park is a really good visit, absolutely fascinating i found it.
  2. Could not get on at all after 10pm
  3. Did the normandy beaches and museums this year, very sobering. Stood on Omaha beach and its like standing on graves it's so hard to explain. Did from Pegasus bridge right along to utah beach over 3 days.
  4. Close ups of scars..........as a comp........to guess the operation. With 2 knee ops, a new hip, one kidney, no appendix, 7 stitches in one hand. I could be there all week......some other good suggestions though.
  5. Yep, 2 yrs ago i was walking miles, to cut a long story short, fell out of bath on hip and leg in a hotel. 2012 2 knee operations, 2013 most of it on crutches due to hip bone crumbling due the fall cutting off the blood. Got new hip but surgeon fractured my femur knocking it in. Light at the end now..... But it's amazing how quick your life and health can turn, lucky guy, wrong event but right place if it does happen. Live life as if today is your last, it might be..... So on that note opens the stella! PS I am same age 54
  6. Aaaaah the TENS machine! Trying it for my trapped nerve in my opposite leg to my new hip. But it's not working. Another potential subject though......i like Autumn and winter, only wish it was lighter longer.
  7. The best camera is the one you have with you, that's why i went from a Sony A700 (gathering dust now) to a Sony nex6 and i put a very light 50mm lens on it. Because whilst not as light as a compact it is small enough to carry. Cameras and technology don't make images people and their imaginations do.
  8. Or maybe not! Not got the hang of uploading
  9. Low res images of the arboretum for nannyferret
  10. Found mine on flickr and emailed me, nanny f the arboretum is lovely, they have spent millions on it doing it up with a lottery grant.
  11. Wonder what the next step forward will be? Talk of liquid sensors i read somewhere
  12. "Run forrest run" *ducks and limps for cover* :-)
  13. I am only 54 but worried my shiny new titanium hip might freeze up if it gets cold and i have to go out, i have a full selection of disabled aids.........Extended shoe horn, raised bog seat, sock putter onner, crutches, walking sticks! Blimey i have enough subjects there to keep me going!
  14. I have had several local organisations approach me and have used my images for promotions, Dudley canal trust and a company doing advertising for Walsall Arboretum. Have had an image on central tv weather as well. I am not a member of a camera club though.

Looks like an old series 3 or a 2a, shame because looked after they last forever, nice shot
  17. All been said but i can say one of my favourite if not the favourite lens i have is my f1.8 50mm. Already been said but at 85mm equivalent on your camera the dof at 2.5mtr would only be 17mm you might want to stop down a bit.
  18. Hi Thorney from another New member
  19. Thanks Annie your a little star, will get posting!
  20. Hi i know it's the wrong place, i tried help, i tried to log an admin post but i don't know what i am doing wrong. How do you post to the shoutbox? I can't see an input box, that's on pc (chrome or firefox), tablet or phone? How do i shout?................
  21. Thanks Again all, Heather we put the house up for sale when we were down to one of em, unfortunately it was during the bad recession. everyone liked the house but cant afford it! then they all came back before we could stop them by having no space, they have got to leave eventually surely?..........I will be retired with 40+yr old kids still there! no i wont there will be a murrrrdddeerrrrr well before then!
  22. Thanks for the welcome everyone, very warm. Annie my kids call me Dennyboy (2 step kids) rather than dad, so i will answer to that quite comfortably if it gets confusing with 2 dens going on! It's ok to call me that for everyone if it's easier.
  23. Thanks John, look forward to joining in with all aspects of the forum
  24. Hi everyone, i am Dennis, i have been photographing for most of my life, probably last 10yrs or so more seriously. But have been through a period of health problems which have stopped me getting out anywhere properly past 2 years. 2 knee arthroscopies and a new right hip later i am feeling better and need some motivation to get out with my camera again. I am 54 and have 3 kids who keep coming back home despite best efforts to relocate them. I also have a border terrier who is my mate. I shoot with the devil, i use a Sony nex-6 have been sony through dslr's of differing forms. But prefer the smaller camera. Never had a Nikon or Canon! Anyway that's me! Look forward to joining in and getting some help motivating me again. Feel free to crit anything i am not too sensitive and open to constructive advice. Dennis
