  1. Very well done Geoff, and a great choice by Kate
  2. Hi Matt and welcome from the south of the country
  3. I've appeared in a local paper (page 3, no less) but never submitted pictures to a competition of any sort. I have a friend who keeps entering and winning stuff, maybe she could give me some tips as long as I don't enter the same ones as she goes for
  4. Well, working during the day is rather limiting during the week as I have limited room and inspiration at home and I don't 'do' cold soggy evenings outdoors, but weekends I hope to be out and about maybe trying my hand at a 'scape or three. Elsewhere I have been attempting to photograph musicians and dancers which is something that I should be able to continue during the colder months, so watch out for a few more of those, although probably not including me as I am not musical and any reasonable dancing is purely accidental
  5. A lovely set in the original thread and an excellent choice for PotW Well done Martyn
  6. Welcome back, good to hear you're back on track down there
  7. It's a big update that requires stacks of space if you do the update on the i<whatever> itself. If you use iTunes, by connecting the device to your computer for the update, the storage space is used on the computer, not on the device so saving a lot of messing around. Backup is, of course, always advisable before any update.
  8. H Kev and welcome. This is a great place for learning, the people here have a wide range of knowledge and experience and often a slightly wacky semse of humour
  9. Interesting looking bits of kit and the history is fascinating as well. The wonders of the developing state of cameras eh? (pun intended)
  10. I had the EH newsletter that mentioned this and wondered how good it was. Great to hear from a local that it's as good as they claimed That part of the world isn't on my agenda for this year, but maybe next.
  11. I had the same message earlier today when I came to the site on my phone (Android 4.4 with Opera mini browser) but it's been ok since then *edit*: this was at the top of the main entry page. I do have the site and my browser set to remember me on the site.
  12. It's a very pretty weed, though :)
  13. Time for an update, this is the slimmer version compared to last year (honest, I really am about 10Kg lighter) Just one pretty lady this time instead of the three last year, and I'm the one in the suit! Canon EOS 5D mkII, Canon 70-200 F/4L and a helpful friend holding the camera, 1/400s @ f10 @ 73mm

Well done Geoff and well chosen, Kate
  15. Well done Korky, and good choice Colin. That's a real eyeball grabber
  16. Greetings and welcome Sam. Don't worry about the equipment you're using, if it does what you want then it's right for you, and going by the pictures you have the eye to make the most of it.
  17. and there was me thinking that was an LED ringflash on the front Looking forward to the results (and I wonder if anyone will ask for the exif info)
  18. What he said we are relying on Colin for the pictures of the day
  19. Thanks Chris and thanks for the comments folks, this guy was amazing in performance with, as Chris says, energy and dynamism just oozing from every moment of the show.
