  1. The subject matter is in the first sentence... perhaps you couldn't be bothered to read that either. Most of what I post doesn't get much comment... I'm used to it and getting to the point of thinking why do I bother.
  2. Dave... I agree with you up to a point but as long as oil can be drilled for cheaper than utilising other forms of energy then nothing will change. It doesn't do away with the fact the human race will bring about it's own destruction and that process will happen eventually for sure.
  3. I take it this was of no concern to anyone judging by the number of views and only one comment... I realise that there is nothing we can do about it but I find hard to accept what is happening to our planet. Creatures are dying out at an alarming rate and the human population is increasing at an alarming rate also... but not for much longer... nature is going to give the human race a huge bite on the ass soon.
  4. I am glad I visited the Amazon Basin of Ecuador in February 2011, it looks like the oil companies are set to destroy even more than they already have in the Amazon. Watch the video in this news report. http://www.guardian....ting-rainforest Just a few shots I took on my visit. This is Sani Lodge where I stayed for five days. Out for a days birding with a local guide.

I recently purchased a very expensive pair of Swarovski binoculars and a Sigma ringflash, I did the usual checking of prices on the internet and I eventually purchased both from Clifton Cameras in the small Gloucestershire town of Dursley... not too far from me with very friendly and well informed staff. The cost of both items was very similar to the cheapest internet prices and Clifton Cameras do online sales as well for anyone who can't visit their shop. I made a day of it on both occasions by also visiting the nearby Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge where I am a member.

I'm sorry Robin, I hope something good comes your way soon. I'm glad I've been self employed since 1977, I worked as a self employed electrician until 2000 and then I started doing sameday courier work. I still do this part time, I will do this year and then maybe retire. Once you have been self employed you would never become employed again, is there anything you could do on a self employed basis?
  8. I pasted the URL and when I click download I get the error message.
  9. Phil... I downloaded this but I couldn't get it to work, I kept getting a box saying 'No video found to download' or words to that effect. I've uninstalled it now, something changed my browser as well, so I had to get Google back. I've watched this video twice...
  10. Possibly a dumb question... is there any way of downloading this (or anything from YouTube) and saving it on my pc?
  11. This is amazing... you will need 25 minutes to watch it. http://www.youtube.com/embed/doN4t5NKW-k
  12. Thank you Dave... I've saved it to my favourites.
  13. I've downloaded CS2 & Elements... not sure how I will get on with it though... I've only ever used PaintShop Pro 8 & 9. Anyway... thanks Tina.
  14. I believe my 60D has the same sensor as the 7D and I can't say noise levels are a problem, I can't remember going over 1600 iso so maybe that's the answer.
  15. Take better macro's... well maybe...

    New Laptop.

I finally made up my mind and got a Samsung 700Z5C Laptop and I'm really chuffed with it and I seem to have taken to Windows 7 like a duck to water. I'm still putting all my stuff onto it, with a 1TB hard drive I don't think it will be filled to capacity for quite a while...

  18. Good advice Dave.... I for one am always checking for updates and I try to keep my cameras and mobile phone updated.

    New Laptop.

Robin... I'm a bit concerned full HD is going to make text very small and also I'm not very keen to have Windows 8, I'm still using XP at the moment, I feel that 7 will be less of a jump into the unknown. I'm not as young as you and it takes me longer to learn. I also want a matt screen, I can't stand glossy screens.

I've been looking at this laptop... anyone care to comment. http://www.ebuyer.com/411501-samsung-700z5c-laptop-np700z5c-a01dx

    New Laptop.

I've been trying to make up my mind what laptop to buy, my old one is on XP home edition as is my PC. I can't stand glossy screens so this limits my choice. Also I'm not sure whether to get a Windows 7 or 8 model, I've a feeling that Windows 8 might be too far away from XP which I'm obviously used to and I don't want to tax my elderly brain too much. I don't want anything larger than 15" and I want as good a screen as is available in matte. I can afford to spend up to around £800 and maybe a bit more. Samsung seem to do quite a few laptops with matte screens... any advice anyone?
