  1. This was our old street in Birmingham in 2018. There are advantages to living in a conservation zone, but not when its between two rivers.  Ironically Evesham has flooded more times than our old street ever did, but we're far enough away so it wont affect us.

Our house escaped flooding in 2018, but the houses you see on the other side of the street were a foot lower than ours.  All the residents on that side had to leave the house for 12 months whilst everything was fixed

  2. Interesting set.  Whenever I think of Southend the letters SS2 6AL come to mind.  My first job in the Civil Service was sending off the daily statistics, so I wrote an envelope to 27 Victoria Avenue Southend on Sea, Essex,  SS2 6AL every day for a year and its ingrained in my mind even today!

  3. I moved from a flood area in Birmingham, which apparently is not flooding at the moment due to flood defences

However this is where I am now, luckily far enough away from the Avon to not be affected

  4. Thank you all, very kind.  I've taken that tunnel in all types of light now.  Although the lack of street lighting in there makes it easier to photograph, it's still a, public thoroughfare and should be lit at night. Sign of the times in Birmingham I guess 🤪

I think I actually prefer the  one without the light on in the tunnel... it makes the view at the end more of the focus and  the subtle lighting  reflected on the tunnel walls  leads the eye in nicely without  too much distraction ... just my opinion though 😉

Its on Flickr and just got included in the "Explore" category so clearly they agree 😄

You  did something similar once before in daylight  as I recall Strav , a few years ago didn't  you ? The canal / tunnel looks familiar.  I agree  with Rye about  that first image  but my fave is that fabulous building in the last  image in the set ... Having said that,  the  3rd pic, of the tunnel, is beautifully exposed and composed in the low light  .. AND  on reflection  may just pip it at the post for me ..😉

Thanks, yes indeed I did, but this was the first time there were no lights in the tunnel, making it marginally easier to photography but maybe not as striking
