  1. Truly the other side of the coin Kobi, I'm beginning to wonder if the residents of Hebden Bridge Yorks, Worcester, and most towns in the west country have a similar plan for flood alerts.

I hope all goes well for you, temperatures like that i can live without thank you very much!, although my wife loves the heat, I'm a cooler sort of bloke!

  2. I honestly think that while the digital age has made it easier to take photographs, we will suffer eventually by a huge loss of images for future generations to enjoy. There is nothing more I like than to browse old book shops and bric-a-brac stores and stalls for old Victorian photos of my hometown and its local area.

But with the advent of the digital age, and I dare say the failure to print only the best, will those future generations be able to rummage through piles of old photos like me? Will the modern inks and papers stand up to time as the old products have successfully done?

I have already noticed the decay and fading of a few photos I took only eight or so years ago that were printed at home. And, I have also thrown away CD-ROM's that I could no longer open or view the contents. It would be interesting to hear others view on the subject.

  3. Very interesting Kobione, thanks for the story, and yes, it should be published!

Back to the articulated truck for a second, I'm trying to work out if it is an 'International' or a 'Freightliner' any better shots of the grill and manufacturers name?

Secondly why tin roofs and not tiles? I would have thought tin roofs would generate a fair bit of heat in the roofspace?

  4. i had some guys have a right go at me a few weeks ago at lackford lakes near bury st edmunds, minding me own business snapping bugs i was,

Had a similar experience at Rye Meads a few months ago when the Kingfishers were nesting. Walked into a hide and they all turned round and looked at me looked at my borrowed 55-200 and looked back at each other with that look :)

But Phil raises a point actually, there are probably some very good Nature reserves & RSPB sites near to where we each live. For some reason many of us fail to appreciate what is on our doorsteps, and happily drive miles looking for photogenic sites.

I have lived in this particular town for close on thirty years and only now am I beginning to find and appreciate some of the local sites nearby.

  5. I always get dejected when that bland blank grey cloud stretches from horizon to horizon. It is bad enough for me as a relative beginner to get good shots. So what tips has anyone for making the most of that boring sky?

  6. Whenever I go out I take a camera with me but I don't go out with an idea set in my mind; probably thats why I come home without using the camera!

    That is me all over!

I even take mine to work hoping for a good scene or something that takes my eye while out and about. I have taken it in every day this week... and have not taken a single shot. I even go out for long walks every weekend but tend to stay within a certain area but nothing doing the last few weeks. I think its a confidence thing with me, I'm so used to taking rubbish shots that I need more inspiration:)
