  1. I aim for a very fast walk of around 4 and a half miles twice a week, trouble is it is usually Saturday and Sunday. During the summer months  I try at least three times a week to cycle to work and back, a round trip of ten miles per day. Would like to do more, but work prevents me from doing so.

The wife and I, once we set out walking, end up doing about eight to ten miles sometimes, but that's not very often sadly.

  2. So, maybe time to give it another go eh?

I can only find disposables with 24 shots at the moment, but there are some great websites out there experimenting with disposables :) there are some by people who tied them to public benches and left a note...some of the results are ...a..hmm ...a little disturbing shall we say, so I didnt include that link :hope:

  3. I too thought that was a bit of an insight,

I would propose our own competition, a couple or three disposable cameras that everyone can have one shot with before passing it on to the next person by post. The results would be quite something I'm sure....or has it been done here already??

  4. Away to Majorca 20th -29th July

Away in  Normandy from 3rd Oct-9th Oct

The possibilty of car sharing could be an option for those from the same area, although gawd forbid anyone would want to travel far in my jalopy :)

A very firm rattly old Sukuki Jimny :)

  5. Out of interest what do you want the RAW editor to do that your camera can't.

I was under the impression that you needed something like photoshop ect to actually process the RAW image, as in post processing.

Since I have paint.net and FastStone to tweak images for jpeg, I thought for RAW  I need a photoshop, or similar program

  6. Is there a half decent one available for download ? I for one cannot afford Photoshop, I couldnt make head nor tail of GIMP, and at the point where jpeg images from my D3000 look thin and washed out compared to many photos I see posted on various places..and here.

The camera came with Nikons own ViewNX software, but I was told this was not that good, so I didnt install it. So, for those of you used to Nikon and their software, how good is it and should I install it ?

  7. As BP said an  f1.8 Colin,

If I get results as per the posted lads photograph by BP, then I will be a happy bunny.....in fact I'm rather happy now having just consumed nigh on half a bottle of Cuban rum..the wifes fault..she tricked me...hic :)

  8. I managed to win an auction for the lens I have been after for a long while :)

I will soon be the proud owner of a prime lens in the shape of a 35 mm Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX G for my D3000.

I thought about a 50mm prime but decided on the 35mm as it should work out a little better for my sensor size, or so I have read. Only drawback is that i have to wait until Thursday to get my mitts on it. It has only been used a few times and comes with the box, hoods, bag and caps so really pleased :)
