Blimey ! I have a photo of the same woods in wintertime, that not far off the mark at all!

...saw me up early to go and see the Deer herds that are quite numerous here.
The first thing I noticed while walking in the dark to the woods was last nights moon....
Then I was treated to a great sunrise coming up through the trees....
and sharing the sky with the Moon setting towards the west....
Back towards the rising Sun, a Qatar airlines cargo freighter banked around lining up for Stansteds runway 11 miles distant, and with the early sun glinting off of the wings...
passing over...
and finally the deer, although plentiful, they tuck themselves away on private land I cant go on and resort to capturing them at extreme range that means a heavy crop ! Take note of the bonus Jay down to the left corner...
All in all a good early morning walk of about 7 kilometers

Superb Matt !

The Tokina lens is noted for its flare (image 2), so I position myself to cut down on it, the first image was on a Nikon 18-140 but that does not seem to suffer as bad but thought it wise to limit collateral damage...although some like to see flare, my mind is not made up on that. Thanks for taking the trouble to comment.

Lovely use of depth of field and the muted colours reminds me of a painting.
Yep, thats Polly's signature style that works so well on her flower and fauna images.

I like it, the Sun overhead & the reflection of it in the glassy water kind of makes it I have sat up there many a time, the first time on our Honeymoon in 1977

I spotted this Goldfinch while out across the fields this morning, Aparently most fly to southern Europe for the winter..
Then there was this chap up in the treetops, is this a Nuthatch ?

Denis I think I would prefer to see the original, hate to be critical but they wouldn't fly this close together and the lighting is wrong for the sky you've used.

So yes, I changed the sky, I didnt like the grey, bland background ...and if the weather forecast had been as it should, sunshine and showers, then the sky I replaced it with is more to how it ought to have been that day. this is the original bland jpeg image showing that they were as they appear. no 'trickery'... no Photoshop or other type of layering software as I dont have it..... let alone know how to bring two single aircraft together in one image. I just wanted a pleasing image (to me) of a day that cost me one days pay, & £40 to get in for one half decent photo. It is the lens that makes them look that close, sorry you dont believe me, I wont bother in future.- 1

What a fabulous PHOTO that is Denis .... you really do hide your light under a bushel sometimes don't you ..... the prop whirr is super ...and jeez those planes look close together don't they?
Top dollar stuff Mr Sharp!!
The lens does appear to bring them closer Polly, but the actual separation is well within limits set for airshows That was the absolute best I got that day, a break in the rain and a brief bit of light broke the weather pattern that dogged the event.
