Another image where I am really trying to capture some atmosphere with mono processing. You good folks will be the judge!  Always open to feedback.

fantastic! the overall dark tones are wonderfully done, so subtle that the shadows appear as one on first glance and then the details start popping out at you.

Appreciated. Subtle was what I wanted in this one. The railing detail does come out of the shadow, not obvious at first glance. :) I did not want to lose this detail but it had to be kept in the dark.

It really does need a close and long inspection to see all the subtleties of the staircase. It's not an image for a quick glance, you have to linger and look around - I like that.

It's mysterious - what's down there?

I'd like to see it even bigger than the click on one :)

Thanks Judy. Yes, look quick and you miss things. :)

What is down there? Well I could leave that to your imagination or just tell that it is the way to the museum exit! :)

Looking at this again Kev, I am beginning to realise that you might be influenced by well know Artists.......it took me some time to realise that this one is pretty close to an ......Escher?

Ah yes, Escher. I know of Escher and I guess there may well be something in the sub-concious that connects with this shot. I have to say, when I took the shot, my thoughts were focussed on a dark moody mono shot and my purpose became to get a half decent exposure to allow this.

I agree that the image needs more than just a glance, I think the mysterious part is the dark mid sections of the stairs, a bit spooky and "do I want to go down there" though you know there is light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.

A nice image Kev, I like it a lot

Ron

Cheers Ron. Most appreciated!

I like the image very much, but I find it's a kind of 'halfway house'. The real mysterious image would be mostly darkness with that staircase in the distance; on the other hand, to study it as a feature in its own right, I'd rather see it with less darkness surrounding. I suppose what I'm saying is - there's two shots there: distant and closer-to.

Thanks Chris. Feedback appreciated.
