Mounts for prints where to purchase?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Had a couple of my prints framed which I love!

Question is my kids want a couple done too so I went to ikea for their frames :)

I had mine done professionally but could not afford to do,theirs.

Question is where in the UK would you suggest to purchase a mount cut to size.

The ikea frame is great but only comes with one White mount and I would quite like to have a little coloured one below the main one that came with the frame.

Cathy :)

Many High Streets have picture framing shops where you would certainly be able to buy a mount.

Yes you are right Chris and thank you.

I was hoping to maybe find a place that was a little cheaper than the local frame shop as they can be pricy!

What about Hobby craft. They have an online shop if there isn't one near you.

Now that's a great idea. Don't have one here but there is one only 40mns away!

Thank you I will pop over tomorrow and have a look :)

Hope you find something suitable.

I remember seeing some in the upper floor in Coventry, although it was a while since I was last in there, but as people use the for different projects , I would imagine that they still stock them.

Cathy - what you're talking about, I think, is a double mount.

You can buy mount cutting kits and learn how to cut your own with bevelled edges, which takes a bit of practice, but once you've mastered that, you have only the cost of the mount boards, instead of having to pay the high charges in framing shops.

I learned how to do it at my local camera club - you might find the same if you have a local one.

Good luck with it.

Gosh! Never even thought about the fact I could do my own.

Thank you for this idea I love it! can I ask is it the same places mentioned you would purchase these boards to make your own mounts?
