rehoboth beach

two shots from april at the oddly deserted rehoboth beach.  i was planning on a nice colorful sunset, but the sky sucked so b&w it was.  the structure is a wooden frame that goes around the outside of a drainage pipe.  rocks were piled on top to create a jetty.  the rocks were removed a few years ago, we had a very rare near miss from a hurricane and for the first time ever we had a direct hit from hurricane sandy the following year.  the town was afraid the tide would rise to the boardwalk and buildings and the rocks would become wrecking balls during the storm so they removed them.

thanks everyone.  i shot a couple different angles that night and several shots of each angle as the waves came in and out.  these two were my favorite from the night.

back in december i tried to shoot some star trails with the water coming in, but it didn't work well.  the businesses on the boardwalk cast a very odd light on the beach and it's near impossible to keep my shadow out of the frame.

Hi cuilin... #2 just edges in front for me ... Only just though .... I think, for me, it's because the ratio of sky to beach and water is almost the same in photo #1 though I accept that the symmetry is part of it's guile .. That said ...I'd be proud to have either in my portfolio....I wish .
