Me printers died

Recommended Posts

I've been out of retail for two years now so I'm out of date - I've always been happy with my R2400 and I know of others who use (newer) equivalent A3+ Epson printers with great results.

Not sure I'd be going for an A3 Photo all-in-one as I prefer a dedicated machine for a dedicated task.....but as I say I'm out of touch a little and things move on.

The other printer I know of and have experience with is the Canon PRO-1 which is a genuinely astonishing bit of kit.

My advice would be "Don't buy Epson"! They're great printers, but when they die there's no resuscitation possible and the whole thing becomes a pile of junk. The main culprit seems to be a line that feeds the printhead - it's not integrated into the ink cartridge itself like on Canons, and if it dries out, then forget it. I've had three Epsons die on me (why didn't I learn?!) but my not-quite-so-good Canon has kept going.

Ive just switched from 15 years of using EPSONs because of ink costs and drying out if not used for a while, the print jets are part of the printer and not the ink containers.

I have a new CANON MG5550 All in One......................Ink changing is a Doodle and it seems to last well.

I don't know much about their larger machines though:

I have never (until now) had problems with Epson printing exactly what is on the screen. I have spent the morning with some experts on the subject of photo printing and come away with a great deal on an Epson XP 750.  The drying ink situation has been addressed on this new model, its all set up now and works very well indeed.
