Paul, unusually I'm going to crit one of your images  :ninja:

There's fantastic feather detail but it's lacking in contrast. Do you set the black and white points when processing?

Thanks Phil, no problem with the crit my shoulders are broad,it was taken with the light behind the bird and so I had to lift the bird when processing the raw file which meant lowering the contrast but I think it's pretty well there, increasing the contrast any more resulted in less feather detail. :)

As to the feather detail I always seem to get better feather detail using Capture One 8 pro than using Lightroom 5 at least for me.

Cheers Paul.

I've just pulled the image into ACR and managed to get the blacks down to -34 and the whites up to +10 before any clipping occurred, on my screen (not calibrated) it made quite a substantial difference to the image overall?

I'm now at the 'seeking advice' stage rather than offering crit, because setting the blacks and whites is the first thing I do with any image.
