Whilst this has been done many times before its a first for me. Any tips on how I can improve this type of shot? Help always appreciated!

I would start with doing selective curve adjustments. Create a layer, select with the lasso tool the part you want to change and then do curve adjustments. Repeat this as many times as you need until you get the effect you are after.

Looks just fine to me........just NEVER use flash.

Working blind on an eye study doesn't sound quite right somehow? ;-)

I just used NIK Vizeza to selectively lift the colour and brightness in the eye. This was the result.

I really  worked well. I don't think I have ever seen an eye shot which had so much detail in it.

bloody fantastic !!! - and I have never done this either but if I can get my wife to sit still for a minute or two, as she has wonderful eye colour, I might try

Very hard to estimate the age of an eye when it's in total isolation!

Obviously, your daughter doesn't have red eyes (though it suits the picture!) - what colour are they normally?

No red eyes.  The eye colour was enhanced from a natural brown colour!
