I would start with doing selective curve adjustments. Create a layer, select with the lasso tool the part you want to change and then do curve adjustments. Repeat this as many times as you need until you get the effect you are after.

Looks just fine to me........just NEVER use flash.

Seriously though, I posted a tutorial on eye processing just a day or three ago.

Working blind on an eye study doesn't sound quite right somehow? ;-)
