John - careful about not over cooking the saturation, Photomatix can be a little over colourful. But I think you are off to a great start

Annie... Here is the original image that I took before I purchased Photomatix Pro5, the shot was a single image that had already been processed in my normal way. I just tonemapped it with Photomatix when trying the software for the first time... well not exactly the first time as I had been trialling it before actually buying and until you pay it leaves several watermarks on the processed images. Since then I have tried merging three images on several occasions and I've had reasonable results... but I need to get out with the camera and take some more shots... just waiting for some nice weather.

 

 

Here's one I like that started off as three images.
