A TALE OF TWO MASTERS

Well Annie.......I ....DID IT!

Taking leaves from the books of two top masters of photography I went on a very serious ....Street Photography venture this morning:

I had taken on board the suggestion by Don Mc Cullin to use a 2.8/100 Macro Lens.....and the idea from the William Klein documantary last night about film and noise being raved about by, Past, and, Contemporary Galleries:

Here then are three of the results:

I deliberately wound the ISO right up to over a thousand, the shutter speeds were sky high, and I shoved my camera up quite a few noses without fear of favour.....I only received one slightly negatove comment, but my subject soon began to chat amiciably after I explained my quest.

The girl waiting to cross the main road was fortunately backed by a white van, I have been able to utilise that:

The.... Onion Peeler.....is the Hot-Dog Man.......on our local Market.......this has had more noise/grunge added in...TOPAZ FILTERS......Love 'Em!

The...Big Issue Seller........has visited the town for some years now....she can be a real pain in the *rse with her wailing cries.......she knows I never buy one....but since I broke both legs almost three years ago....she always asks how I am.

I am hoping and praying that.... NO ONE ....DARE....suggest I should use....Anti Noise Software......it is DELIBERATE folks....

FUJI being....ARTY FARTY ....and loving it:

seriously love all three.

the bright whites behind the girl really makes her stand out and i love her "busy" expression

the big issue seller i love the woman in the foreground slightly out of focus, gives the impression of you stalking your "prey" and sneaking a photo lol

Love the grain on the final one, it really suits the character, he looks slightly gritty and " dont mess with me" kind of man and the slight noise in the picture helps to portray this to me

well done on your adventure ! looks like you have been well rewarded for your efforts

i am sooooo happy you did it fuji, it was worth it was it not?

three brilliant shots there...

i love the first, you have captured her beautifully.

number two, i love the way you have the big issue seller in focus and the other lady slightly out of focus, very clever,

and number three has been processed to suit the character down to the ground. very very nice set there,

see, a bit of graininess can add a certain something...xxx

three very good images. I have always said that a really good photograph has a mix of technical ability and good composition. I have seen technically perfect images that are totally forgettable as the content is boring. I have also seen images that are far less that perfect technically but due to the content they hold your attention and stir emotions.

Many thanks all.....it seems it was all worth the effort......and seems to have worked.....I am very pleased and will do it again soon.......obviously market day or anytime that numbers of people gather together.

I am itching to do something similar in Coventry City Centre now.....but I'm not sure just how safe that would be without a minder?

Thanks for the edit Steve.....it looks very similar to one of the versions tried out prior to posting the one I did.....I have a habit of over lightning areas sometimes.

I do have a few more from today....but haven't processed them yet.

Those are simply brilliant :)

Been perusing the site for inspiration for days and then these come along and blow me away.

I'm off next week so I think this might be on my to do list :)

How does the first one look in colour

Here you go Fuzzy......

This is, pretty well....As Taken.....just enough processing to develop the main subject from the priginal RAW file....the van, is exactly ...As shot, it was moving past at the time, hence her expression.

I did think that having the ISO up so high might make it unusable at a colour version, but it seems to work?

The sad thing is though.................is that the girl is part of one of those charity ..HASSLE...teams, who target passers by whilst hardly allowing them time to get a word in.......if they aproach me they get very short shrift..............do you get them in your town?

This is my alto ego saying this "Its better in b&w"

Too many blobs of similar bland colour to make it as interesting as the noisey b&w

Yes we do get them but they are only doing an annoying job I have sometimes spoke to them in a foriegn (made up language) that confuses them other times I look them straight in the eyes with a I dare you to approach attittude, not always succesful but the hand up in a stop right there position never fails
