THE WILLIAM KLEIN documentary on BBC TV ...A MUST WATCH

Recommended Posts

I recorded the William Klein documentary last night.........Fascinating stuff.....what a photographer?

What did I learn?.........that gritty noisy shots that many despise now are almost worshipped by the Art community.......that Street Photography, is better......done ....IN YOUR FACE .....rather than from a distance........He used a telephoto for much if his fashion work, being almost out of sight if his models, they did almost their own thing amongst the general public whilst he was shooting.......He seemed to have a ....Nifty-Fifty lens on his old Film Leica for most if the time during the program.......

Very strange then, that if I post a noisy grainy shot......I just get told ....." It's Noisy, use anti noise software"......we live in a funny old world.

....Like he recent David Bailey documentary it s an absolute MUST......catch it on BBC iPlayer as soon as you can.

those grainy noisy shots go down really well with some of my friends fuji....i have one friend that is always urging me to make things nosier......he is an artist and a photographer. and a few of my friends have lately purchased old 35mm film camera's from ebay .... they say the get more grain in the shot.

i dont dislike grainy looking pictures, i think they really suit some landscapes...

A lot of what the so called art photographers produce is something we do by accident when we catch the shutter button by mistake, or set the wrong ISO, forget to focus and shake the camera during the shot! I sometimes wonder if most of these so called artists work is more by accident than design!

You can even do it intentionally!

What I can't understand though is why these so called artists always buy expensive cameras and lenses to do it when any old cheap basic camera can achieve the same results?

You can sell anything to the gullible using "The Kings New Clothes" confidence trick by calling it art that will only be appreciated by the educated and discerning! Look how much our "thick as a plank" local councillors using tax payers money are ripped off on rubbish called art and sculpture in order to try and pretend they are cultured!

But they still maintain there value (read that as cost not artistic value) and can be sold on later to another art lover?

Money is not the value of art

Everything is art Its just good or bad art and its all down to you to decide which

Money is the investment in something that can be sold later for more or a possesion that has to be owned by someone at any cost for reasons only known by them

Lomography is cheap 35mm plastic camera ' has been ' techno according to the new digital world.

Strange colours from old film and grainy black and whites the new ' camera savvy ' loath so much.

Love it that the arty folk dismiss the new and embrace something that could easily be lost in time.

Long live the arts and their love for seeing good in others perception of bad :)
