I'm being tempted to join Facebook - so far I've resisted because of all the mindless pap and the Jeremy Kyle connotations.

Can anyone convince me I should join? Would it help promote my scribblings and my websitete?

Do I really need 368 'friends'? Is it the place for and old geezer with an odd sense of humour?

If you're thinking about using it from a business perspective then I'd have to say it's worth it and many companies use it today, as well as Twitter. If you create a page on Facebook it will give you the chance to reach out to a new market and hopefully generate sales. It also creates another link to your website, which from a SEO perspective is important. I would suggest you give it a try and see what you think. I would also advise you to look at how other companies have used Facebook to promote their business for useful tips on how best to use Facebook effectively.

I only joined to get hold of Jean's cousin but ended up using it a lot after we were made redundant last year, it was a good way to keep in touch with the lads and lasses who are now spread all over the world...literally!

The only thing I'd warn you about is that you may end up with crazy stalkers.....no names mentioned eh Annie? Heather is OK, but Annie is a bit touched methinks :)

I joined facebook when it first appeared in the UK.

I was working nights at the time and it suited my lifestyle as I could still communicate with friends and family no matter the time of day.

You could say emails could do that but facebook was something totally different and kept me sane ( open to debate )

Today it's just one of those everyday things that simply happen but is useful if you need to promote a venture or business.....

Go for it.......you can always delete if you think it's not for you.
