I'M TOTALLY BEFUDDLED ..........Help!

Befuddled isn't the word, frustrated, more like..

I re-homed my aging Epson all in one printer, to replace it with a shiny new CANON PIXMA GM5550 all in one, a model chosen after much online research.

It is a Wireless jobbie, all bells and whistles......print from your iPad the blurb says......print from anywhere.....Yeah! Yeah!

I set it up and got it printing, it prints beautifully, even my thick textured photo paper goes through.......but no way can I get it to work wirelessly........it is now connected by cable to my desktop.

It does find and use my router, I have registered and signed up for ...Canon Print.....Google AirPrint ....and....Print from Email......I have passwords set for all three.

The blue wireless light is on, it confirms connection to my router, and it communicates with the said printing sites.

Come downstairs to my iPad.....I have the Canon Print app.....but it and my Email tell me that my shiny new printer doesn't exist.

Am I doing something wrong......or just doesn't the printer like me?

Dare I unplug that USB connection now?

I had the same problem with my Epson printer, I unplugged it and everything was fine, don't ask me how..He who dares wins.....

Does your desktop 'see' it wirelessly?

Does your iPad 'see' it when you go to the print option in Photos?

you need to add the app to all your devices, then make them all viewable as a network, My canon  MG4250 was fairly easy.

That almost certainly is the problem.

On disconnecting the USB cable, the printer connects very easily to my router......but, my PC doesn't see it, but it is online itself using the same router.

If you know the solution to this, please explain in easy steps, I don't want to upset my internet connection.

The PC is running a Windows XP ....

I am guessing that once the PC see the printer wirelessly all will be fine with my iPad?

could XP be the problem I wonder......   have you tried using the app JUST on the Ipad with the PC off?
