FOCUS TUTORIALS.....well worth absorbing

Recommended Posts

I have just watched this, basic stuff for some, but it could be a Godsend to a new photographer..

One point from it that I observed was nothing to do with the main subject......I noted that every time he put that very expensive camera/lens combination down, the neck strap overhung the table edge, it was the same for the other camera there.

I don't know about yourselves, but I always ensure that my neck straps are tucked up well away from edges. I do this since I caught my finger, in a overhanging strap, I only just caught the falling camera and lens.

It was very clearly presented and no confusing jargon used.

I think I with watch some more of his tutorials.

I agree about the camera strap too. If I put my camera on the table for any reason, I make sure that it, and straps are right in the middle.

The same when I am having a play with my camera. I always hang the strap around my neck.

Yes, it was a very helpful video - I didn't know absolutely everything he talked about, even though I class myself as someone with some experience.

What I found faintly laughable was that it was titled "DSLR focus tips". His tutorial seemed aimed mostly at beginners, who really should NOT be using a DSLR (unless they've more money than sense). His tutorial applied equally to mirrorless system cameras, advanced P&S cameras, enthusiast large sensor fixed lens cameras, bridge cameras... yet what did he have? Two big Canon DSLRs. Beginners' tutorials should include beginners' cameras; most DSLR owners would already know those methods.
