The end of the dragonfly season approaches and this male brown hawker is certainly showing his age.

I have sat and watched loads this year...I could not be bothered even trying to get a pic...just happy to sit and have them flitting around me...I must be getting old!

 

Tis sad to see the end of the season even so.

One of our walks a few weeks ago took us through a bird reserve and, of course, we just had to sit in one of the hides just to watch for a little while.

 

Dragonflies were in abundance and I was amazed at the speed at which they were flitting about - it made me appreciate even more the skill that goes into shots like this.
