Very well composed - the dry stone wall leads the eye from foreground to background very nicely. It'd be nice to know something about it, though.

I'm not sure your Flickr link is allowable on TIPF - but I get confused about such things, so I may be wrong.

I've removed the link.

Cathy, there is a link in my signature with instructions on how to post from Flickr.

That's a gorgeous view, and well photographed Cath - very nice!

If I had any criticism at all, it's that perhaps there is almost TOO much going on? My eye was drawn to several different places at once. While keeping your original, had you thought about possibly making a few crops from it, each isolating a different part of the scene? I've had the cheek to have a go at it myself, and you are quite free to disagree with my subjective opinion, cross me off your Christmas card list, and never speak to me again  - but what do you think?

But whether you agree with my crops or not, I think this is a great opening image to share with us. :)

Whilst I'm not sure about the crops Chris does have a point about it being a busy little picture, but the scene is what it is.

only thing I would consider is cloning out the plane trail, I think it does spoil the uncluttered natural look of the place.

Oops! Sorry about the link.

Thank you so much for your replies and comments they are very welcome. I only started trying out landscapes in the last couple of years when I get time to try.

Not great at it as I am still trying to understand not using the auto button and it is taking me a while :) still don't quite get it all but will keep trying. I think the worst thing is i come home with hundreds of images and can never decide what to bin lol!

I use AP most of the time but the rest is guess work.

Chris I do like the crops I like them a lot! And would never have thought of this. This is the kind of help I like so please always feel free to comment or play with any of my images. This is how I learn so thank you.

Aperture Priority has been a favourite among many keen amateurs for decades - it's the best all-round compromise 'Automatic' mode which leaves you a good deal of control of your final picture (ShutterP has more specialised uses I would say). And there's nothing wrong with using fully Auto Programmed either - especially when you grab your camera to get a shot and there isn't time to reset it. Looking at the photo you posted you clearly have an eye for a picture, and that's the main thing. Technique comes after.
