Sir John Barrow Monument

Although it's not a real lighthouse, the "pepper pot"  was based on the Eddystone lighthouse. It was well worth the walk up Hoag Hill in Ulverston to see the views over the lake district and the bay.

I particularly like the first one where the monument is shown in landscape context. The composition is excellent.

Lovely set again Martyn. First is my fav for the same reason as Kate.

 

They have an ancient old building high on Tennyson Down Isle Of Wight, that they call the Pepper Pot. I took the trouble to get to it once, when I reached it you could see no further than the end of your arm for low cloud...!

My favourite is the dramatic #3. Just a shame it's slightly lost in the clouds.

Great set Martyn. #3 for me as well. Passed this many times on my way up to Barrow.

Eating our lunchtime butties on the hillside above Leighton Hall yesterday, we could just about pick this out on the skyline on the far side of Morecambe Bay.

 

Number 1 for me - very nice indeed.
