Cockersands Abbey

Sometimes you see an offer, "2 for the price of 1", this was one of those days. I went out to photograph a lighthouse and discovered Cockersands Abbey (or the remains of). This abbey was destroyed and it's land sold off by Henry VIII who left the chapter house standing because it was a burial place.

Good shots Martyn. (I can't help feeling you might want to be more selective in your use of vignettes though?)

I like number 2 best - it gives a nice impression of how bleak the area is.

 

I'm inclined to agree with Mr Lumix re the vignette - I'm not sure a clear blue sky is suitable for anything but the merest little vig.

 

When I was there a couple of weeks ago I took some shots with the iPhone - they were naff, so I dumped 'em.

Thanks for the comments guys, I have to agree about the vignettes. I'm sure they didn't look that strong on my monitor when I originally processed them, but in future I will pay extra attention to them.
