This poor Wattle Bird was soaked to the skin, as was I!

I should have put this on the original post, except I didn't know it! (From the a guide book of Australian Birds)

 

Red Wattlebird Anthochaera carunculata

Slender grey brown bird, white streaks. Smaller, more streaked in WA. Crown blackish, silver-white face. Dark red iris. Dark pink wattle at ear. Belly yellow. Legs pink. Female smaller.  Race clelandi (B) notably darker. Size 31-39 cm. Voice raucous "tobacco box", "chokk". Habitat forests, woods, suburbs. Flocks follow flowering in Autumn and winter. Domineering behaviour toward other birds.

Well caught. What's a wattle bird?

They are the lost souls of the Outback Chris...........they seem to be always in a world of their own, always hesitant and uncertain..........their call is.....
