Soldiers...

I was really taken with this sculpture / woodcarving of three soldiers at rest.

 

The colours, the textures, the cleverness of the idea and the 'woodland' setting all came together so nicely it deserved a photograph.

 

It's in Rhuddlan,  North Wales btw.

could be but I thought it looks more like a cross-bow?

No, I wasn't! Now I look again, I see the crossbow. I still think the "little girl pleading" would have made an interesting addition though.
