Hello Monomania! With no formal background in photography and not a lot of practice I'm hesitant to think I'll be of much use to you, but I'll try anyhow. Obviously every component of the shot contributes to the overall form, but in particular I think your decision to include the shadowed roadway in front was key. Without it the frontier of the building and protruding walkways might have come across as overbearing. I love the way the light falls throughout. I'm wondering if the buildings to the left in the distance can be brought into greater clarity (can that be done?) as the shot seems (to me) to be inviting the viewer to go in that direction. I cannot fault your choices to include and not include - very much enjoyed this. I hope this response has been helpful.
