Love this shot Fuji! It's very easy to offer critique (especially when I know I couldn't do any better myself) but I would like to see the reflection in the specs removed and a little light on the forehead area under the peak of the cap.

I'm really impressed with your series of mono close up portraits Fuji, I can only hope that one day I can rise to this level

Thanks Martyn.....I really appreciate your kind comments.

Two things reagarding your suggestions......all too often I have attempted to lighted dark areas under peaked caps, only to be told that it looks artificial ( which it is) and that the lightened eyes look zombie like......can't win either way;-)

The specs reflections, are there, I always leave them in if they appear.......I did have a Polariser on the lens, but I'm not sure if turning that would have improved things?.......can't ask a complete stranger to stand still whilst I faff about with settings?

Your points have been taken on board for next time I meet someone wearing a baseball cap........in bright sun those peaks do create very deep facial shadows.

My mono, conversions and post processing are done in CS6 .....I use the Black and White converter on a copy of the original RAW colour shot, then do my usual selective Contrast Grading, a push or two in Levels and Curves then selectively sharpen for texture........I might add a little Mir texture and contrast via TOPAZ Filters if it is required......all a bit of an artistic balancing act really.
