Night Sky ... I need to work a fair bit ...

Recommended Posts

......on my night sky photography . I  shot this on 20th December 2020   but couldn't really see what I was doing and I  was freezing cold. It was taken at 6 pm and  before Saturn and Jupiter got to their closest position a few days later  when the skies here were  too cloudy to see anything . I  can  I think identify Jupiter and 4  moons ( of 79  that are known ) left to  right, Callisto Ganymede, Europa  and then  the nearest to Jupiter Io . I once  named 4 Birman kittens that I bred  from a cat called Moonie, after Jupiter's moons..   I took half a dozen shots  but this seemed the best of the bunch...  As it won't happen again for 800 years I feel I should have made a bit more of an effort  to  learn how to  get a better   result  really ...  Hindsight eh ....

Im in the same boat now, got a Sky Tracker to experiment some more with Astrophotography, there are a few apps that can aid in finding what to look at, Telescopius is a good free site, it allows you to select the lens and camera ( Full Frame - Cropped etc ) and shows you what the image will frame like, also shows you what's happening where you are, and at what time to go out and freeze lol,

Very interesting learning about stacking and the additional images you take to help remove noise through heat on the sensor etc

Very new learning curve for me :-)
