ND Filters

Recommended Posts

I feel the need to have some ND filters, in order that I may repay Fuji for his lovely street portraits by offering-up some milky water to thrill and delight him ;)

But seriously, buying a whole set is a little steep, so I was wondering if anyone has tried the variable ND filters at all. Something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-67mm-Fader-Neutral-Density-Adjustable-Variable-ND-Filter-ND2-to-ND400-LF26-/180889704333?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraLensesFilters_JN&hash=item2a1dddd78d

but hopefully less "Who Flung Dung" and more "Hoya". But that sort of thing. I've never seen them before so feeling a bit dubious.

TIA

Graham

The cheap ND's seem to give a colour cast - have you considered Cokin type of square filters?  Having sait that, I might be tempted to try a cheap variable to see of its a viable option

Looked at that option, but the current camera has a 67mm filter thred which pushes me into the Cokin P range and associated price bracket :(

I use mine with a cheap (£3) wide angle holder on a 77mm filter lens with no problem, but I see your problem, having accidentally aquired a Lee filter holder and some Hi-Tech filter (much cheapness all round though!!)

I got given a cheap vari ND fiter, the threads on it were rubbish, I threw it away as I could not risked it threading my lenses.

I do however own a set of cheap filters I got from Amazon, they work well unless you stack 2 together then you get a bluish colour cast...
