Bottlenose Dolphin.

Nature photography can be very frustrating sometimes, I would have liked the Dolphin to have been coming towards me... I took loads of shots and none were what I wanted. Still I'm glad I actually saw them and got some shots, it was the highlight of my 7 days in La Palma.

I was watching a program about Dolphins last evening that I recorded a week or so ago and I learned that when female Dolphins are ready to mate they go pink on their underside. I reckon this Dolphin is just showing the first signs of this... what do you think, it might be my monitor out of calibration...

That was an amazing series - did you see the part about 'recreational drug use' involving a puffer fish?

You shot him in a natural position and I like that.

I wonder if you would have caught it with that lovely twist to his body if he was facing you. This shot is great.

Tina... I was lucky that it's tail was only just in the frame, they are so fast and I am so slow these days...  It just came from under the catamaran like a torpedo.

The final slow-mo sequence of a dolphin leaping out of the water and splashing back again, against an amazing sunset ... that was worth the price of admission alone.

I will get a shot like that one day... in my dreams... :yes

I know what you mean, John.

When I was young and still lived with my mum and dad, we were on the ferry over to Fairborne,

The ferrys were quite large boats those days which held 50 or so people.

When we got a short way, a shoal of dolphins swam along each side of the ferry until we reached the other side.

We were all told to keep our seats and everything would be OK. It was and we were escorted by these lovely creatures safely to the other side.

It was a wonderful experience. I was    somewhere about being a teen or a bit younger, but I remember it so clearly.

We are so lucky these days to have camera and can record such special events.

Thanks for sharing. It brought back some happy memories for me.
