Looks like a rather beautiful place. Being in Norfolk, I rarely see hills and valleys (though there's rumours of a nasty slope in Norwich).

 

Graham... there are plenty of hills on La Palma, everywhere is up or down... you should drive on some of the roads. I've been from sea level to the highest point.

Bugs... Those clouds were at a lower level to where I was stood, it's quite common to have clouds below you on La Palma. Here are a couple of shots showing just that, that is the clouds over the sea down below and the building is one of about a dozen observatories on La Palma. I was almost at the highest point on the island not far from that sign in one of the other shots.... nearly 8,000 ft.
