Maybe not to everyone’s taste, but I like the challenge of HDR and I do think you can achieve some good results but as always your opinion counts too!

With this shot I have purposely left the verticals as seen, straightening them up seem to reduce the photos impact

I have two separate brain hemispheres, and therefore two separate responses!

First impressions are that I like the way you've used HDR on these - they're subtle compared with some of the horror show HDRs you see. I wouldn't call these strictly photographs as such, they look more like artist impressions, but I like them all the same. Good compositions too, and HDR does seem to suit this subject matter.

The other half of my brain rebels and says "I LIKE the extremes of light and shadow I get with my eyes! Where are they here?"

So you can't please all the people all the time, but you can please half a person.

surely that is the point of HDR / the increased dynamic range shows you the detail that is often lost in the shadows that your eyesight cannot see?

Yes, I know! But our illogical emotions (right brain?) sometimes like to see the extremes, with perhaps just a hint of detail showing. But that would negate the whole point of HDR, I do realise.

A fine set of images, Colin - very hard to pick a favourite, but I think it might have to be number 4. Lovely!

I love the HDR, I love the converging verticals and, personally, I'm not bothered whether they're 'photographs' or not. They're great images and that'll do for me.

Fantastic set Colin! The HDR is very subtle in my opinion. Did you use a tripod with multiple exposures or a single raw shot and adjust expose after?

I visited Lincoln Cathedral a few years back while camping at Woodhall Spa. One of the memories I have is of driving across Lincolnshire and overtaking a brewery wagon that was "all wheel drive". I couldn't think why they would want that type of vehicle when the highest ground I saw for miles was the top of a mole hill. A few hours later I saw the brewery wagon again on the main street; then I understood!

A mixture of both, outside it was far to windy to risk using my tripod and with no.6 I'm right up against a screen with no room for a tripod.
