Hoodie

Recommended Posts

I've had my nine year old granddaughter for a few days and we haven't been able to get out much, so she helped me to tidy the spare room one day and I promised to take some shots the day after.

We had great fun and she enjoyed posing.

With a makeshift lamp ( a projector to be exact) and a board for a back drop and a flash gun for some of the pics, we spent about two hours upstairs, clicking and laughing.

For these two I turned the flash gun off and just used the projector.

It felt good to have my camera back in my hands.

Like these, although I'd also like just a little more light on the left of her face (her left) in the first one. Just enough to be able to pick out her eye, maybe, even though a hoodie is often perceived as as a 'hidie'

I do really like the expression you caught in the first one, not threatening at all but it goes with the dark 'hoodie' perception in the media view.

Two interesting portraits Nanny.......two of mine positively refuse to pose, the others might under protest......what is it about them, that they will snap each other endlessly with mobile phone cameras, but shy away if it is a proper one?

I agree with the comments regarding lighting from Bugsy, a tad more light to only just illuminate the hidden eye, and to soften those harsh shadows.

A great effort from both of you.

Thanks for the comments and CC all. It's always welcome.

I only remembered that I had left my twin LED stand up light downstairs after I had piled my exercise bike and some more stuff by the door.
We tried to rig the white projector screen up on the right but couldn't get it to stop toppling over.
I want to fix a hook up in the alcove to hang it, and maybe a couple of hooks to hang the  material up for back drops.
I have a lot more with her hood down but need to sift through them.
I didn't want to face the projector too much towards her eyes because of her eye sight, but I guess I could do some directional lighting in editing.
It was fun, and a starting point.
I think I should store a couple of tripods, flash guns and a couple of slaves upstairs ready to use when I want them, and maybe my small folding table and tabletop studio.
If everything is up there, maybe I will do more indoor photography.

I can't remember if I have already posted the following bit as it's been a busy week, so excuse it if I have. I have

I also sorted out a tape recording that I made of my kids, holidays, party's etc. and transferred them, using a tape deck and amplifier which my brother gave me along with software to do the job.
I have given my kids a copy each. My son was only three, my daughters six and nine years.

I am doggy sitting my daughters dog for a week now as she has gone to Africa to celebrate my oldest daughters 50th Birthday.

Evie barks at him and he tries to get at her, so it's a separate room for him at the moment and we keep going in and spending time with him as he is blind.

It's chaotic at night as both dogs have to have separate room while the ferrets come out to play

Oh the joy of it all.
