REFLECTING ON LIFE

Recommended Posts

As soon as I spotted that this lady appeared to be staring at a reflection of herself I knew that I had to shoot very quickly before she moved away.

Thoughts:...............

I am doing my best to get used to a new (expensive) lens........a LUMIX 20-1.7.................... fitted to PANASONIC GF1.....the lens is a christmas present to myself.

It was reccomended by a keen photographer pal as excellent for Street Photography................The combination of this fast focussing camera and very sharp lensdo work......BUT!

I am struggling to come to terms with just how wide the lens it is compared to a 50mm on my sONY A55................The latest batch of weather and dark winter days havent helped.....or....is it just me not trying hard enough???

Answers please?

Well, I know you don't do 'numbers' Fuj - but even looking at it simply : 20 is two and a half times wider than 50, so it will be very noticeable. In the days of 35mm, 50mm was a standard lens (human eye view), while 20mm was bordering on fish eye, i.e. very wide indeed. I imagine your lenses are NOT 35mm equivalents? In which case, 50mm is probably equal to say 85mm, and 20mm to around 28mm - which is a huge difference!
