The golden hues of the fading flora, the rosy berries with their stores of energy for winter, and just the tips of next years life starting to emerge as if in anticipation.

The berries really stand out against the nice blurred background.

Nicely isolated, and a glorious red of the berries. The composition does feel a bit crushed over to the left though - the space to the right doesn't work for me.

That's interesting.

 

I deliberately composed to the left like this because I thought of a verse or something in the empty space. Do you think that would balance the composition?  (and I am rubbish at thinking up verses so it wouldn't be mine )

Beautifully seen and taken Bugsy.....

In my days we school kids were paid a few pence a pound for Rose Hips, because of a shortage of Orange a juice for Vitamin C........

Tell you what though.........we kids also knew, that the hairy seeds packed inside each smooth red innocent looking berry were the best......ITCHING POWDER ........EVER!

Put a few down someone's collar to find out ;-)

 I love the contrasting colours in this image and I think the reds of the berries and bud tips are stunning. I would have said the same as the others about the emptiness of the right hand side, but a well chosen verse would balance, and compliment it...a well thought out concept

 

I have an image on my website called essence of autumn too...totally different to yours though as its a still life. But just goes to show how we think about our images and the names for them
