Anyone upgraded to Mavericks? Anyone experiencing speed issues?

Since my upgrade to the new OS, Elements 12 is performing summat chronic. It slows to a crawl and even a simple mouse click can take 20 seconds before a response. It's  happening on both the iMac and the MacBook even though both machines have fast processors (i5 & i7) and 16Gb RAM. PSE 12 is 64 bit and can access as much RAM as you can chuck at it.

Anyone any ideas? Is it possible to ditch Mavericks and return to Mountain Lion?

Authorities seem to concur this is not an easy process. However, the one I thought seemed simplest to understand was this one :

http://osxdaily.com/2013/11/05/downgrade-from-os-x-mavericks/

It does rely on your having a Time Machine backup of your machine when it was still running Mountain Lion. It also says to backup all the data you added since upgrading (but Time Machine should have those too? As long as you can remember what you changed...)

Two great links - thanks, both.

Since I posted this query, I've tried PSE without having Elements Organiser loaded as well and things seem just as they should be. Makes me suspect it's Organiser that's the fly in the ointment.
