honest opinions please guys, I have a little job this weekend so I was experimenting with low key, Megan is always a willing model, she would sit there all night if I asked, she loves the attention :)

this is more about the experiment, did I capture this correctly or not?

I'm afraid it's just slightly too low key for me. However, it does depend on what you're aiming to use the technique for as it could be very effective as a background or as a 'dark' theme.

That single catchlight is a little too intense for the general darkness of the picture, as it instantly draws the eye instead of to the models facial features.

On the plus side, the one-sided lighting is effective with the shadowing being so deep to make the viewer look deeper to try to see details.

It is great to see you pushing the boundaries Leon.......well done that man.

Lovely model, great pose........but..........it is just too dark , with the little catchlight too bright..........slightly more ( diffused) light, or a longer exposure perhaps.

You are on the right track.

Thanks for the replies guys, I wanted honesty, we were in a totally white room but I wanted a clack background, going to find some kind of black backdrop to do what I need to

Ill post my next try when I find some black material :)

looks a bit grainy now, what else did you do Fuji?

All I had to work with was your original rather dark compressed for the Web JPEG........it was done quickly on the iPad in the Photo Toaster App...so not up to my usual CS6 standard:
