SOFT AND ARTY

Today, I have been experimenting with a lens I dont use very often......my SONY 1.8/35 which....I think....equals a 50mm on my Sony A55 sensor?

Both of these are....as-taken, composed in the viewfinder, lens wide open for minimum focus but maximum DOF....in other words deliberately soft outside the focus point.....the central composition is deliberate too.

I find the first one, the Ivy flower, tends to fool your eyes, because of the selective focus:

Best viewed LARGE.....Click on Pic:

Weirdly, the ivy flower looks more in focus small than it does large. Is that what you meant Fudge?

Yes, there is that, but, also I find my eyes searching for the floret most in focus, so is continually searching.

Thank you all for the kind comments, I am determined to get the best from all of my lenses during the winter months.......I have quite a number of old M 42 thread ones, with adapters which I use manually..........I have a Minolta AF 50/1.5 on the way, which should give me a little more scope for experiments like these.........I have a Sony to GF1 adaptor ordered too, so all my Sony lenses will fit the GF1, onwards and upwards.
