this is a photo of a flying white cabbage butterfly.

however, it was taken in bright sunlight with the wrong setting on the camera.

it came out very over exposed with no butterfly to be seen.

now then, when i looked at it i dismissed and was ready to delete, then i thought about it and started to play around in photoshop, when done i thought 'that looks ok, a bit different', that was yesterday, today i'm not sure if it works or not, so i posted it to let you have a look and get your thoughts.

Your approach to this is all wrong, you shouldn't say 'this is a cocked-up photo I've tried to rescue by being a bit arty-farty blah-blah-blah'. You should say.......

'I've always greatly admired the work of the artist Jackson Pollock and this is my homage to him and the short time he spent on this earth. This new addition to my portfolio examines the concept of short human lives and juxtaposes that overwhelming sadness with the beauty and delicacy of the butterfly. It's available as a limited edition print and is priced at £875.00'.

Get the idea?

In all honesty, I'm not sure it works either. Someone once advised me to always re-evaluate work 'in the cold light of day'. If you aren't sure about something, leave it till early the next morning and then look at it again critically. It's amazing just what you'll see that you didn't see before.
