The Underground

really like this one phil. love the way the train is shooting through, made me remember the wind that rushes along the platforms as these trains pass through. the guy looks in a hurry too. even after all these years there are times I miss London, although I could never go back to living there.

I love the implied speed of the train and the way the single figure is walking away from the viewer.

Can't believe you thought this was for the bin - it's a smashing image that just had to be in B&W.

Any chance of a sken at the original?

I like it.

I don't think I have ever been on the tube?

Wow, really? Like Woody's girlfriend in "Cheers", who when told of the underground railway, replied "Little trains that run under the ground? Oh, sure!"

Another shot I'd dismissed, this time because there is very little in focus. But a quick conversion and it was, I believe, transformed.

Yes - great picture. How did you convert, and is there any chance of seeing the original?

What ...you mean there really are trains under the ground  :smiling:

great picture Phil, I think the lone man really makes the picture - what time of day was it??

Thanks everyone.

Absolutely no problem with posting the original, but work tonight so it'll be tomorrow afternoon.

I believe it was taken around 10:00 but I can check that with the original.

As for the conversion, I use Silver Efex Pro. Cycled through the presets then selected one I thought best suited the image. IIRC I did introduce a very slight vignette.

I like this picture Phil, it has atmosphere and a feeling nostalgia for me, like a step back in time.

For me, this is completely lost in the colour version.

Having grown up in London, the 'tube' was a part of everyday life, travelling back and forth to work, and the mono version fits nicely into that era for me.

Do I miss living in London, absolutely not. Its no longer the London that I knew as a child, teenager, and young adult.

I left there 28 years ago, and would never go back.

That said, I still love your picture!!.
