The Singing Ringing Tree...

Korky

Recommended Posts

Snapped yesterday on our walk high on the moors above Burnley.

This is one of Lancashire's panopticons and is a sculpture made of galvanised tubes - the idea is that the wind blows through the tubes and creates a 'song'. On the right day, it's very effective, but on the wrong day......

Mrs K is in there to lend a bit of scale.

Shot on the iPhone and given a cheap and cheerful edit in CS4.

Remove Mrs K and the shot is nothing. Excellent pic of a very unusual sculpture :yes

And you're showing your age with that title :yes

Agree totally on the first comment as Mrs K makes the picture complete by adding the sense of scale.

Can't comment on the second observation as I don't know the reference :D  must be before my time

Thanks for the comments - always appreciated.

I compared this with the shot I took without Mrs K and your right, she did make the shot so much better. I bought her a sherbet dab as a thank you.

That's different, a challenge to the Angel of the North perhaps, albeit on a smaller scale :smiling:

I bet it could sound quite eerie at night, with the wind in the right direction

Would they be Wind Turbine that I can see in the distance?

lovely image and the sense of prospective gained by adding Mrs K is great. As for the wind turbines I must be one of the few people that quite likes to see them, I dont see them as a blot on the landscape at all
