There's a lot going on here, amid the fairly simple graphic shapes of the architecture. I particularly like the way you captured "one going in, one coming out" (lower right). It's a really good story picture.

Thanks Chris.

Mono doesn't seem to sit well here on TIPF, if I'm honest I struggle with the concept myself.

I'm purposely trying to get more into it (if only to please FUJI :) ) but I'm not really into the gritty conversions, although I do realise the method suits some images, landscapes for instance.

Having viewed the original I thought this image was particularly well suited.

I like the way the building and windows divide the picture up into smaller ones, I particularly like the top right with the lone woman sat at the table. I at first though the guy in the top left frame was playing the accordion

Actually, I rarely do conversions (though in fact Photoshop does give the opportunity to convert in any of the separate RGB channels, so simulating the use of the coloured filters that was always a part of B&W photography.) I much prefer to actually shoot in B&W, though as it ideally needs the camera to have different contrast and saturation and maximum ISO than for colour, I have one of the Custom settings on my camera set up especially for B&W.

But I agree with you - it's a different mindset altogether. I remember the days when serious amateurs would EITHER shoot colour transparencies OR B&W film. The most serious ones would even have interchangeable camera backs with different types of film in.

For some reason it brings Berlin to mind - although that might just be my mind!!

Great shot, I love the frames within the frame.

Mono is one of those things that really appeals to me, but it is a different mindset and I struggle with colour, never mind seing in B&W :-)

I like this one Phil

It would be ruined in colour It would have lost its contrasts in composition

The picture is quartered and each quarter has contrasts within or with the next quarter

At the bottom there is a billboard and none in the left quarter, Right quarter man in man out, Left quarter man walking man stood, Big statue little post

Across the top, man 1st window in white sat, 3rd window empty, 4th window man in black  sat

2nd window crowded room 5th window just a lady sat (I noticed how much she was like the woman in the 2nd window making a connection )

If this was in colour, the colour would have its own contrasts and it would have got complicated
