Taken last Monday in Haugh Wood a few miles outside of Hereford, hoping to go again next week, it's the best butterfly site I've ever been to.

Tell you what though, I'm wondering if this is a large skipper? Those wing markings are very strong, more so than I'd expect to see on the small skipper.

If it is, then I will be very jealous

Bugs... I can't make up my mind whether it's Large Skipper or a Small Skipper... so much so I originally posted it as a small and then edited to Skipper, I'm leaning towards a large but I need to do some research. Thank you for your continued interest in my macro posts.

Here is another shot that shows the wings slightly better, I'm pretty well certain it's a Large Skipper.

Well I reckon I saw quite a few last Monday, if the weather is sunny next week I'm going back to Haugh Woods. I've been told it's the best place in Herefordshire for butterflies and going on what I saw I'd say it's the best place for insects I've been to... full stop.
