I took this at the City Nature museum in Arras last week and at the time I thought it was just a bit of leaf or a discarded cocoon - it was only when I got to look at it LR I noticed it had an eye and legs.

 

 

Sorry not the best shot as it was a 'Lets have a bash and see if I like it' kind of image. That and I only had a 55-200mm and it was windy and it was in the middle of a huge patch of flowers.

its a silver y. day flying moth. lovely picture. hard to spot these as like you say they do look like a twig r an old leaf.

 

they do come into uk too, but they can't survive here..the frost kill them.

Good capture BP... I've taken some shots recently but mine never stayed in one place like this one, they are usually really busy feeding.

I have looked at things like this and wasn't sure it it was a dead leaf or not.

I have to go and look at my Lavenders now. lol.
