For three years we gave temporary full board accommodation to young Japanese Language students, it was fascinating to observe the cultural differences,........we enjoyed the whole exercise.........at every parting there were always genuine tears. Strangely many of them were fascinated by the English meals we served up ......they took photographs of everything from Shepherds Pie to Fish and Chips, never mind every cake or pie we ever ate.

I guess that if you are in a totally foreign country for a very short time, then a photograph of a local food vendor is perfectly normal.....you just aren't seeing it from their perspective Phil.

It's all 'tongue in cheek' Fooj. I know and appreciate why they do it, I'm merely stating that it looks odd from our perspective :)

if I'd have taken pictures of street vendors we'd of been sick just thinking about it!!

I think the tip is to follow the locals. If it's good enough for them it's good enough for us... Apparently :)
