Rolling a cigar.

Although I was on a birding holiday in Cuba that didn't mean we were birding all the time, you will see from my other shots we had time in Havana and even time to call on this elderly gentleman who grows tobacco and makes cigars. The chap in the second shot was our birding guide who lives in the Orkneys, he does birding tours all over the world but specialises on birds of Cuba. Through his trips to Cuba he has got to know the elderly gentleman and always makes a point of taking his groups to see him. I was next to light up one of his cigars... very nice too. After this we were taken to see his tobacco curing store and how it's grown.

Are all the cigars there hand rolled? as it must take many hours looking at all of those leaves, if they are.

I'm not sure if all cigars are hand rolled but it seems an awful lot are... they say the best Cuban cigars are rolled on a maidens thigh... mmmmmmm

Guess what I'll be doing this evening... well I'll tell you... cooking steak, drinking wine and this will be followed by a Cuban cigar, I shall sit in my chair near a wide open window and just let the smell fill the street below...
