My Efforts from Today

We managed to get out today as it was a bit cooler to leave the ferrets, so we went to Lavender Farm Fishing Lakes.

I couldn't believe how overgrown the shrubbery and weeds were and was thrilled to find some caterpillars before we even walked through the gates.
Then some soldier beetles and butterflies.

The insects were mostly shot with the Raynox attached and the camera set at various settings. I found that F22 with a fast shutter speed and pop up flash (I forgot my diffuser) worked best on the insects  and the 55-200mm zoom without the Raynox worked best for the butterflies and the pair of naughty Soldier Beetles.

I cropped the white butterfly, as it had rather a large chunk out of it's wing.
