FEEDING FRENZY

FUJI

Recommended Posts

You will remeber that both Nanny Ferret and myself posting shots of wild carp feeding during the cooler months earlier this year....Look at the difference a month or so makes:

The fish have become so tame, they actually fight in a great bubbling, writhing mass to snatch any morsels thrown their way....they even dare to snatch food from the hard beaks of the resident ducks:

I also noted at least four huge white KOI Carp amongst the hundreds of Carp.....Annie being Piscatorially minded should be able to tell us which species of Carp they are....I am guesiing ...Golden Carp....Yes?

Until this year, visitors would see an occasional view of a fish as they broke the surface at a safe distance...or, at certain times, the courting frenzy off-shore during Spawning.

This year, it seems that the whole fish population has learned, that duck-feeding visitors mean food....it might be, that natural foods diminished as a direct result of the strange weather patterns of late:

I haven't been back since I took this, the Carnival Fair was there over the weekend...I know they had lots of Polish workers...hope they didn't go fishing?....They like eating Carp.

I counted well over 15 fish here:

I got a pic of them fighting on Saturday when we came over for the carnival. I will post it up later.

You are right when   you said they were huge. I've never seen any that big. I wonder if they out-grew someones pool or maybe they were moving and couldn't leave them. They are certainly a greedy lot.
My ex- son-in-law had some huge carp but nowhere as big as the Kenilworth carp.

I still have some carnival shots to edit, then i will post some off those up too.

It was a good day, although I didn't get the best vantage point to get the whole of the  floats in, so mainly got close ups of the inside of them.

A little boy dropped a small tin with a lid on and they even tried to eat that when we were there.

Fuji, I haven't edited all of the carnival pics, but will put a link on to them when I have.
We were at the Kenilworth one on Saturday, and the Godiva festival on Sunday afternoon for a few hours.

We were quite exhausted from the heat on both days when we got home, but I shot loads, but will probably delete quite a few of them.

We'll let you know when we come over your way again.
Not sure when as we have a funeral to go to at Banbury next week.as well as the weekly shop etc.

I was in an extremely hot Aberystwyth over the weekend.....lots of essential retirement party shots, plus a few from the Seaside....lots to check, then process........first time alive missed our Carnival for years.

The children,s floats and dancing were absolutely wonderful. I think it is going to be on my calendar for next year, and now I know which side of the road they will  be travelling and which direction, I should be able to choose a better spot to get more in.

The dancers were brilliant and did so well in the heat. I loved the young Irish dancers.
I think the belly dancers had the best costumes to cope with the heat.
